Our Story

502 Fragrances began with a simple belief: that a city can smell like something. Not a candle-store idea of "clean linen" or "ocean breeze" — but an actual place, with its own light, its own streets, its own voices.

Louisville is that place for us. The 502 area code is home. And every scent we make is an attempt to bottle a piece of it — the people who shaped it, the neighborhoods that hold it, the sound that still moves through it.

Why Louisville

Most luxury fragrance houses build their story around Paris or Grasse or Milan. We build ours around Derby City. Louisville has never lacked for elegance, culture, or craft — it just hasn't had a fragrance house telling its story yet. 502 Fragrances is that house.

The Collection

NuLu is named for the East Market neighborhood — NuLu, short for New Louisville — a fragrance built around the quiet elegance of golden hour on those streets: galleries, patios, the in-between hours when the city slows down.

Static is inspired by Static Major, the Louisville-born singer, songwriter, and producer whose voice and writing shaped some of the most iconic records of the 2000s and still echoes through music today. The fragrance is built to feel the way his voice sounded — warm, smoky, unmistakable.

Mary is inspired by Mary Ann Fisher, the Louisville-born vocalist known for her work alongside Ray Charles and the Raelettes. Her stage presence — bold, soulful, magnetic — is the throughline of the scent that carries her name.

Rooted, Not Just Branded

Every 502 Fragrances release starts the same way: with a person or place in Louisville worth honoring, and the question of what they would smell like if you could bottle them. We source the finest ingredients from around the world, but the story always starts here, at home.

This is luxury, rooted in Louisville.
